About John Pulsipher

Who is John Pulsipher and why is he running for mayor?

I brought my girlfriend here to meet my parents 22 years ago. It is here I told her, “I think I’m falling in love.” After graduating from BYU, we married and headed to USC for dental school. Upon finishing my training we moved here. 17 years later, I’m running for mayor. I am the candidate with a business here. I am the candidate that owns residential and commercial property here. I am the candidate with kids in our schools. I am accountable to you everyday at work–not just twice a month at city meetings. My platform is about you. I am running to better inform and engage citizens, and balance the budget while leveraging tourist dollars. I’m not in this to overturn our institutions. I have no political scores to settle. I’m just a guy, with a vision and love for the city and all of its residents.

Jerry Seinfeld spoke at a recent college graduation ceremony and gave the new graduates advice. One thing he said was, "Fall in love again and again." It sounds kind of cheesy, but next to my family, faith, and country, I love Coeur d'Alene. To those who know me well, it's no secret that I've been regularly watching city council, planning commission, and other city meetings over the last 10 years, not a flashy hobby--I know.  I'm in a very busy season of life with my wife, raising four boys ages 11-18. I work as a dentist and own Riverstone Dental Care with two partners who graciously entertain my constant ideas for improvement and search for maximum meaning in life. Public service and engagement is one of my core values. It probably started when I was a young Boy Scout earning merit badges about citizenship in the community and nation. My wife Jessica is a nurse and works at Pure Barre, and is a steady sounding board. Somehow, she manages to be both the anchor and sail of my ship. My children have attended several local schools, including LAM Christian Academy, Sorensen Elementary, CDA Charter Academy, Lakes Middle School, CHS, and NIC. I've been a Coeur d'Alene business and property owner for about 20 years. I invite you to vote for me and bring in fresh leadership with bold ideas.

My Family

North Idaho has been our home for nearly 20 years. My wife Jessica works at Pure Barre and helps me in my dental practice, Riverstone Dental Care. We have four boys who were born and raised here.

Why run for mayor?

Living and walking in downtown CDA, I see things. So much about our city is just right! There is room for improvement. The biggest issue is our unbalanced budget! As mayor, I will bring fresh leadership and bold ideas. Most importantly, I will listen to and represent you, the citizen!
